Does anyone even use Xanga anymore? Hmm... I guess I'll find out.

So in the spirit of the new Harry Potter movie coming out next month, I decided to go back and reread the books... just for the hell of it. I wasn't expecting much, honestly. The sixth book was such a horrid disappointment back when it first came out that I didn't even want to reread it. But I figured I should.

I think back then the fifteen year old me was so annoyed that Hermione and Ron got together in canon... that it never occurred to me that it's probably best Harry/Hermione never happened. And you know why? Not because my views have changed or anything like that. I don't think I'll ever be able to support the idea of Ron and Hermione as a couple. It's ridiculous. Even to this day.

No.

I'm okay with the fact that Harry/Hermione never happened because JK Rowling can't write romance for shit.

Seriously.

The woman can write fantasy and action... and even humor on occasion. But romance... no chance in hell. It's terrible. When the books first came out I was so angry over who was getting together that I didn't stop to really read the scenes. Well it's been four years and I've gotten older and slightly less crazy/obsessive/hot headed or whatever else one might call a fifteen year old Harry Potter fan, and I've realized the sad truth.

The romance scenes were pathetic. They were badly timed, poorly written, unoriginal, and just plain awkward... which brings me to my next point.

If that was the way Harry and Hermione would have gotten together, had it happened. I'm glad it didn't.

I've read better written fanfiction and had JK Rowling tried to write a romance scene for them, I'm sure it would have been terrible and probably would have ruined the couple for most of us.

Oh well. Whatever happened, happened. In all honesty, the seventh book wasn't bad. With the exception of the two awkward making out scenes that definitely could have been done without, it was a decent book. And I actually liked the ending. (Point of Clarification: I mean the actual ending, not that joke of an epilogue.)

Speaking of which, what was up with that epilogue? Was it necessary for us to know that Harry married the Weasley slut and had three unoriginally named children? NO. The book would have done just fine to end at the last chapter without that stupid glimpse into what an old Harry Potter would be like married to that idiot.

So maybe I'm still a little bit bitter. It's all good.

Anyway, my point in making this post is that I'm glad I shipped Harry/Hermione and I would do it all over again. Even after rereading the books, they still make more sense to me than any other couple in the series, canon or not.

Annd... for old time's sake, here's an icon:

Well.....for the most part I though GOF was pretty good.....

There were a couple things that bugged me and there were also a couple things I really wish they hadn't left out....but hey, what can they really do?

What was kind of sad about the whole thing was that some of the H/Hr pics that were released by the WB weren't actually shown in the movie....so lets just hope that when the DVD comes out there are a TON of deleted scenes....because I was REALLY looking forward to that stuff....

I don't want to give too much away for those of you guys that haven't seen it yet, but let me tell you now, the scene where Harry first sees Hermione at the Yule Ball and the scene at the end of the second task made the entire movie worth it, from a H/Hr shipper standpoint.

Except, I just hope the producers realize that putting an equal number of R/Hr and H/Hr moments in the movie isn't going to help the "shipping war" situation too much....

But I have to say....the beautiful H/Hr moments totally outweigh the pathetic attempts at a R/Hr romance....

But overall the movie was well made (though a but rushed) and the acting of the trio has definitely improved in this movie from the previous ones...

Anyway, on a sad note, Kate has decided to leave HarryLovesHermione.com, I was just there to check for an update and she has left a message saying that she has been discouraged since book 6 and she doesn't have the time or energy to continue updating...

Honestly....I just can't believe she's doing this....

H/Hr shippers need a place to gather....to show their support for our wonderful ship....

I mean, at least we'll still have Portkey.org, which is a fabulous site...but still....

After reading this I considered starting my own H/Hr site, but I'm afraid that the same thing will happen to me...and I don't want to build up a large fanbase and suddenly let them down.

Two years ago I made a Pirates of the Caribbean site and right as it was beginning to really become popular, I didn't have time to update anymore and the site eventually died...

I think I could definitely make a good H/Hr site and get a decent amount of support for it....but I'm just afraid that after awhile I won't have time for it anymore. Maybe the solution is to not do it alone, and to find someone else who could help run it, so we could both update it and it would be less stress on one person...

I don't know...I just think that we H/Hr shippers need a place to keep our Pumpkin Pie Pride alive.

I won't give up on the idea of starting my own H/Hr site when I get some free time, and if anyone wants to help, just let me know....I'll let you guys know when I make some more progress on that...

Annd....that's about all I have to say for now....it's probably best not to dwell on this too much, I mean, no site stays open forever, right?

For now, let's just enjoy the awesome H/Hr-ness of GOF....

Wow....I can't believe GOF is finally coming out tomorrow!!

I'm soo excited!!

Plus, marching band is over and I can finally update again...life is good...

I really wish I could go to the midnight show....but lucky me, I have school in the morning and my parents would shoot me if I even considered asking...

So, I'm just gonna have to settle for seeing it tomorrow....at a decent time....oh well....

This isn't really much of an update, but I'll definitely have a better one reviewing GOF and the H/Hr-ness of it sometime this weekend....

Until then....have fun and enjoy the movie...

I'm really sorry about not having a real update yet...but with school and marching band I have absolutely NO time right now.

I promise I'll try to have one soon though. Just enjoy the beautiful new pic for now....lol.
